Mister Rogers: Still relevant to today.
When Mister Rogers was removed from the daily feeds of our local PBS station and replaced with drivel, I was upset. My four year old was just as upset, but kept watching repeats of the few episodes we had saved on tape. While I have been trying to collect other "Mister Rogers" episodes since that time, they were hard to come by and resulted in attempts by me to "ration" new episodes. When I discovered seven volumes of Mister Rogers at Amazon on demand, I was thrilled. The smile on my daughter's face when she saw the first episode was priceless.

I am so glad to see that Mr. Roger's Neighborhood is available again. I had looked forward, for years, to sharing his show with my children and was upset to learn that PBS had discontinued airing the program. I will be purchasing Amazon Prime just for access to the show. I am so grateful to Amazon for bringing back this classic-timeless show of gentle words, kindness and positive moral lessons which are not reflected in any other show I have found on Television these days. Why can't we find something, anything, like Mr. Rogers Neighborhood today?? Anyone who has kids of the appropriate age group (3-7ish) should have them sit down and watch a few episodes....this is children's television at its best!

Humans vs. nature, another fascinating BBC series
This review is based on the UK Blu-Ray release and, so far, there seems to be no reason to believe that the US version will be any different.

It was Mark Twain who is usually credited with originating the maxim that "the only two certainties in life are death and taxes" He was wrong since Twain never had the benefit of the wonders of the BBC Natural History Unit. The DVDs are much more than you saw on TV
After watching it on Discovery, there are three reasons I bought this DVD:

1. It is surprisingly raw for American TV. Normally Americans prefer to watch cute people eat dirty things, rather than watching dirty people eat cute things. Audiences complain when people living in harsh conditions kill whales to survive. Not everyone wants to be confronted with the messier, complicated reality when they can find solace in a simplified television narrative. That this show has the temerity and honesty to require a parental a advisory for "disturbing content and indigenous nudity" instantly wins a place in my heart.

2. This series presents what I believe is our best way forward with the environment. It shows an alternative to our conquer or be conquered conflict with nature. The idea that man can live as part of nature rather than as either as it's master or at its mercy is ultimately the key to our own survival. The key is not to absent ourselves from nature, but...

Almost Perfect! But not quite.
85 Snazzes on the 100 Point Snazz-o-Scale.

This is a very good Jimmy Neutron DVD Collection.
-First, about Jimmy Neutron, in case you don't know. Jimmy is a Boy Genius, a cartoon from Nickelodeon. He invents all kinds of wonderful devices, from a simple Hovercar, to a Shrink Ray to Books On Gum (Something Amazon should explore.) Adventures and silliness always follow! Jimmy is often accompanied by his friends, Sheen and Carl, his best buddies; his robotic pet dog, Goddard; and two girls and love interests named Cindy and Libby. (Jimmy with Cindy, Sheen with Libby. Carl? Check out the last episode in this collection.) The animation is simply superb; three dimensional computer graphics with astonishing attention to detail, reflections, shadows, mirrors, and moving backgrounds. The Lake Nose Monster: Parts 1 & 2 [HD]

Phineas and Ferb Rock!!
Everything about Phineas and Ferb is five-star amazing. It is the most watched children's cartoon ever, by adults. Okay, there was no good way to phrase that sentence. It is popular with both my girls and their grandmothers and everyone in between.

To give the video a one-star review because you didn't understand the download rules is unfair.

I wrote this review just to balance things out a little. Now if a few other people could chime in with some five-star reviews, perhaps we could get this rating up to where it belongs!!

Great Show
This is one of the few shows we as parents enjoy as much as the kids. We appreciate that while it is a TV show, it's encouraging of kids to get outside, use their imaginations, and do things. The kids are respectful to their parents (a HUGE plus in our opinion!). Parents, you'll find that you can enjoy this show as much as your children.

Phineas and Ferb Is the best :)
Phineas and Ferb is fun for all ages Disney show. This episode is about. First, Candace is at the end of the world because her boyfriend,Jeremy Johnson, cancels their date so the boys try to cheer here up. Dr. Doofensmirtz is trying to make Agent P trying to look bad by making robot copies of him to do evil things. Next Candace is trying to make to a concert but the tickets are sold out ,but she has a chance by being a Fireside girl and having to earn 50 patches in one day. Dr Doffensmirtz is trying to destroy the bridge to the cupcake factory so he can lose weight. Find out what happens.

All In

Love this show!
This show is very funny, especially for viewers around the age of 30. Most of the jokes revolve around the transition from a college-like lifestyle to adulthood. There is a lot of awkward, silly humor, which is my cup of tea.

I love this show.
I think this show really caught its footing mid season 1 and from their has sky rocketed into something really entertaining. In my opinion Nick makes the show and now that he has been coupled with Jess in more scenes I feel as if the show can only get better. Watch it, you'll like it!

Beauty and The Obese

No Problems Here...
I haven't had any problems at all with my two discs. They play just fine and look fine.

My only beef would be the change in the animation & writting after episode 4. It became way to 'cutesy' and less crass. No more exposed breasts get shown, no more truely funny innuendos. I felt like I was watching a saturday morning fluffy cartoon.

Now I understand why it got cancelled. Someone screwed with it and screwed it up.

It is worth buying for the orginial first 4 episodes tho.

Double meanings and LOTS of inneundo
I don't know what happened with the other reviewers, but my DVD's played with no problem and nothing was pixelated out. The only censoring I found was a couple of words were "beeped" out and I think that was part of the script. The series itself was a fun parody of comic characters and sexual innuendo. This isn't a kid's cartoon, but lots of R rated humor for adults.

Funny raunchy cartoon!
I saw this DVD by chance and it looked so crazy that I just had to check it out. The show turned out to be better than what I expected and less sleazy, with some gratuitous topless stuff at the strip club and rampant bathroom humor throughout the series. It's primarily a superhero/spy spoof, sort of in the style of Austin Powers. Stan Lee developed the show and one of the directors is Kevin Altieri, who worked on Batman: The Animated Series, so there's automatically a certain level of quality brought to the show. The animation and designs are very well done, on par with Batman. The artists also do a great job caricaturing many different types of people. Stripperella herself comes across as a dorky likeable character and is well-acted by Pamela Anderson. The villains are over-the-top parodies of megalomaniacs you see over and over in comic books and James Bond movies. Civil War Pickings [HD]

Please do NOT buy this item!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the biggest FAKE I have EVER seen! The History Channel tries to make you think that this is season 3. Don't be fooled! If you have Netflix, then you can watch this "Volume 3" right now and not have to wait until June 5, 2012. On Netflix it states that the episodes featured here are Season 2 Episode: 9-16. The REAL season 2 has 28 episodes not 8. It's honestly pathetic!!! Think about it, if you pay $14.99 for this DVD, you are paying almost $2 an episode. That's absolutely CRAZY when you can pay $7.99 for Netflix and get every epidisode of Season 1 and 2 PLUS everything else you can watch. Please show the History Channel that WE are not going to take this crap. Go to their website and write to them that you want EVERY episode in the season and you don't appreciate them getting OUR money by LYING and TRICKING us into believe we are getting the real deal!

Great for Family watching
This show for the most part is G rated; there are a few comments that are more PG 13, but it is so hard to find family friendly shows and this is better than most. I also like the fact that it is a fun way for kids to learn some history while being entertained. All in all we enjoy this show and have watched every episode!

Good Show
I had to counter the 1 star review... if you dont like the price, then buy somewhere else. (yes it's high) But for those who dont worship at the altar of apple, the price isn't too bad if you consider the total lack of a cable bill. I just buy seasons of the shows I like and avoid the overpriced cable bill.

Now, about the show... it quickly became one of my favorites. The duo travel around the country finding "mantiques". Whats not to like when they pick old motorcycles, antique bicycles, rusty signs.

Of Moose and Men

It draws you in and keeps you returning for more.
This show draws you into the life of this family like no other reality show. Their day to day life is interesting and the personalities are very diverse.

A different way to live
Excellent example how people can do without the modern conveniences of every day life. The seasons are shorter and they have to take advantage of everyday they get to gather food and if necessary, build other structures they need. They also have to improvise in order to make life a little bit easier. With a baby on the way I can't imagine how they manage to get to a doctor or get their supplies in that they use, i.e. gas, paper products they must have to leave their homes at some point in time unfortunately that is not shown and it would be interesting to know. Wouldn't miss a show

I love Alaska the Last Frontier
Alaska the Last Frontier continues to be a very enjoyable revealing look at the self sustaining lifestyle of the Kilcher family. The setting has magnificent scenery and even the hunting and fishing scenes while at times graphic they are tempered by the explaination of the need for survival. The open view of the self sustaining lifestyle and all that it takes to maintain is very educational to me, and I find it very entertaining.

An Arlington Home for a Couple [HD]

It's all fake, people
After watching about 30 episodes of "House Hunters" (not back to back, of course) I began to suspect something was up.

The "should we choose this house or that" conversations seemed stilted and often the buyers chose a house that made no sense at all, given their stated wants and needs.

Well, guess what. It's all staged.

I'm not going to give away how it's done. Enter "house hunters" and "fake" in any search engine. You'll see.

I gave it two stars because it is mildly entertaining. But I won't watch any more eps.

The Wire: The Complete Fifth Season

"The bigger the lie, the more they believe"
That quote by Bunk (Wendell Pierce) in the opening episode of the final season of David Simon's brilliant The Wire sets the stage for the events that unfold in these final ten episodes of the beloved HBO series.

Picking up from the fourth season, Mayor Carcetti (Aidan Gillen) is pouring money into the Baltimore school system, which prompts the police force to work without paid overtime, and also finds the ever self-destructive Jimmy McNulty's (Dominic West) wiretap on murderous drug dealer Marlo Stanfield (Jamie Hector) put to a premature end. Things begin to change however, when McNulty, along with Freamon's (Clarke Peters) help, manipulate and orchestrate an imaginary, homeless preying, serial killer that garners national attention, all in an effort to put Marlo away once and for all.

One of the best series on TV? More like one of the greatest stories ever told.
I'll begin this review as a review of the series, then move on to Season 5 in particular:

I have long thought that some of the best stuff on TV can be found among HBO's Original Series. I'm a big fan of some of HBO's better known dramas including Rome and The Sopranos, as well as of some lighter fare such as The Ali G Show and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Strangely, I'd barely even heard of The Wire until about a year ago, when a friend of mine (who generally has very good taste) was raving about it. At his suggestion, I purchased Season One on DVD. I was hooked about half way into the series, and I eagerly devoured Seasons 1-4 on DVD just in time to catch Season 5 as it aired on HBO. I can't pay this series high enough praise - to me, it transcends the TV medium, and rather than compare it to other TV series, I'd rank it up there as one of the greatest stories ever told (or rather the greatest stories I've had the good fortune of reading, hearing, or viewing). For Better Or Worse "It's All Connected"

I have learned from IGN that by the end of this year - early 2009 at the latest - all 5 seasons of THE WIRE will be released in a box set. I will write a review once Amazon puts up an item for purchase.

If you want to go in fresh, then I suggest not reading any Season Five reviews. But if you've already started, then read on. I've done everything possible to avoid spoilers, yet critique from my own point of view.

Typing reviews on TV seasons can be problematic. If you're a newcomer to the series who just wants to know whether THE WIRE held up through all 60 episodes, the short answer is a resounding "Yes!" This series took big chances with each season, and each episode was carefully constructed and executed. They don't call this show a "visual novel" for nothing. THE WIRE is easily the most realistic TV series ever produced, and mastered the art of slow build-up.

Sidetracked [HD]

Brilliant program
Gorgeous photography, actually shot in Sweden. Kenneth Branagh is perfect in the role of Kurt Wallander, an extraordinary detective solving unusual and gruesome cases.... Rough, uneven as are most real people, he is a powerful character. Start with `Sidetracked' as the first episode. The young girl in the opening is running through a huge field of blazing yellow flowers... I was so entranced with that opening shot I had to do some research to see what could be that brilliant in flower... "Rapeseed... grown for the production of animal feed, vegetable oil for human consumption, and biodiesel" says wiki so now you know too.

Did I mention the gorgeous photography?

Superb television
I have not read the books, so I base my opinion on a comparison to other television programs in this genre. Although the story lines are quite similar to what one would expect from detective fiction, the subject matter is treated with far more depth of feeling. Story lines that might be predictable or corny in other shows feel more believable here. To the extent that the plots are as equally absurd as those in other cop shows, they serve as more of a backdrop, so that the real subject of the show is this main character guy who is just a wreck. Every episode is atmospheric, slow-paced, and heavy with brooding. The cinematography is fantastic.

Kenneth Branagh's portrayal of Wallander is a pleasure to watch because his performances are so nuanced, conveying a full range of emotion - you can see what the main character is thinking as events unfold. Wallander's life sucks. His father has Alzheimer's, his wife dumped him, his daughter resents him for never being available. He is...

Top Notch Drama
Kenneth Branagh's Wallander is a fantastic series which was shot on location in Sweden with stark scenery and a fine cast led by Branagh. Each episode is feature length with good production values. This is not a fast paced cop drama so be warned. Instead, you get a well crafted, slow burning, character driven series. Series 1 & 2 are equally good, and I can't wait for series 3.

A Touch Of Class

Funniest TV Series ever made. Period.
What else is there to say, other than too bad they only made 12 episodes and i cannot believe how cheap it is on Amazon Video On Demand.

In a class of it's own
i watched this episode when it first aired over 30 years ago and it is as wonderful today as it was then. Extremely funny with John Cleese at his very manic best. If you have never seen Fawlty Towers before, watch this episode and you will not be disappointed.

Fawrty Towels
John Cleese is possibly the funniest man on the planet. His writing is funny, his way of speaking is funny, his movements are funny. There is an awful angularity to him, he bends at all the wrong places, his knees are up too high. To watch him try to open a bottle of wine is to watch an exercise in uncoordination that is funnier than the entire output of every stand up comic since the Greek guy with the rocks in his mouth. And the situations and dialogue he created, because it was Cleese who wrote the scripts for Fawlty Towers, are even better.

Basil Fawlty is wonderful to watch. He is craven and bullying at the same time, a pompous suck up, utterly incompetent, a blowhard who blames his shortcomings and failures on the world. Cleese has the character down pat...that supercillious little git of a hotel manager or railway station clerk, the middle manager who is in over his head, with steam coming out of his ears, convinced that the world is out to get him. Flight of the Conchords: The Complete Collection

All the Conchords on Video in one neat package.
Where to begin here? HBO released the first season of this histercally funny show a while back. Then they released the Complete SECOND season. Finally (well, almost) they released a package with both Seasons 1 AND 2 and added a CD of some of the soundtrack. Well this time they have repackaged it AGAIN, replacing the Cd with "new to DVD" disc of their American TV debutin 2005 for HBO's One Night Stand special. The special is just 25 minutes and has Bret and Jermaine on stage with their guitars singing song which never would have fit in the TV episodes because of length. The first one takes nearly nine minutes. Some are funnier than others - as you can tell from the live audience reaction - but its still fun to watch.

There are many other reviews out there about each of the two seasons and I agree (with most of them) in that Season One is more consistently funny than Season Two (but there are great moments in Season Two). I think this is the case with most TV series. The...

an excellent show yet questionable value set
Flight of the Conchords is a fantastically humorous tale of two dimwits from New Zealend who come to NYC to hit it big with their band.

Anyone who has watched HBO's Tenacious D will feel instantly at home with this show. However, this show is slightly different humor and the main characters seem to be the exact opposite of Jack Black. The show itself is better produced and higher quality, with more episodes and characters, it does a great job of crafting an interesting and fun universe for the viewer to grow comfortable with.

As with Tenacious D, the show is very music-based. Each episode has at least two songs w/ 'music videos' of varying catchy-ness and quality (but generally speaking, all are great). The music ranges from all genres but generally falls in the soft-rock category, even so, the show is definitely acting/comedy first and 'musical' second.

You cannot overthink on this job
Jermaine and Bret are a pair of New Zealand musicians, living in New York City and hoping to hit it big. Yeah, "Flight of the Conchords: The Complete Collection" sounds like a terrible generic sitcom, but instead this series is one of the most hilarious comedies of the last decade -- a quirky, weird, tongue-in-cheek little show with hilarious dialogue. Think a musical version of "The Office."

Folk-pop group Flight of the Conchords is Jermaine Clement and Bret McKenzie (played by themselves), who came all the way from New Zealand to New York. They are being managed by the ineffectual New Zealand Consulate official Murray (Rhys Darby), and they have exactly one fan/stalker, Mel (Kristen Schaal). Clarrisa Explains It All Dvd Season One
Fun collection of episodes from one of Nickelodeon's best shows. Melissa Joan Hart did an excellent job portraying Clarissa. The show had a wit and irony about it that I loved. Also loved the way Clarissa dressed, her unique fashion sense and how she dealt with all the problems she had as a teenager in a funny way that gave advice at the same time. Current and future releases from this new Rewind Collection that Nickelodeon is releasing deserves its own locked and lighted display case that will stand about 10 feet tall in the rooms of many people who just can't grow up (just like me) and can't let Classic Nickelodeon go.

I encourage everybody that ever watched and loved these shows to buy them as soon as they are released because if they sell well, (according to TvShowsOnDvd.com) Nickelodeon is going to release other shows (beginning with Are You Afraid of the Dark?, Salute Your Shorts and You Can't Do That On Television). Other future releases I'm personally hoping for will be Welcome Freshmen, Hey Dude, The Secret World of Alex Mack, Doug, Rocko's Modern Life, All That (the original cast), Kenan & Kel, well, you Get The Picture (that show too!)

To put it simply, I would personally spend all of my life savings and risk not being able to go to work for a month because I have no gas from the money I spent on...

Excellent set, with a few surprises.
Needless to say, this was a smart show for kids back in the good days of Nickelodeon when they had more live-action shows before Nicktoons took over. All 13 original episodes are present and in great quality.

Now for the surprises. When this set first came out a few weeks ago, we all assumed that the original opening sequence was still not intact, based on a quick preview of the DVDs. But then once you watch everything more closely, you'll find that the last episode on the set ("Sick Days") has the ORIGINAL opening intact! Nickelodeon deleted this sequence in around 1993 and replaced it with the one we all know where she repeatedly attempts to write her name on the screen. I may be repeating myself but it would be hard to go wrong with Sherlock Holmes as your base story but the writers have captured even more than the original with this series. The 2 main players Sherlock (played exceptionally well by Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson (played just as well by Lucy Liu) just add depth to an already interesting story each week. This can be called a bromance, but one of the bros just happens to be a woman. He said that from the very beginning and I think it's really an apt description. There's this idea that a man and a woman can't be together on a show especially without needing to be together sexually or in love or whatever, and this is really about the evolution of a friendship and how that happens. Watching that should be as much the story of this show as the mysteries that you see week in and week out about who killed who. I just know that after a few episodes I was already addicted. The addition of Aidan Quinn as Captain Tobias Gregson of the New York City...

Perfection on TV
IMHO, there is not a better show on television. Jonny Lee Miller is absolute perfection as Sherlock Holmes. (That he did not receive an Emmy nomination makes a mockery of the Emmys.) Lucy Liu is almost his equal. I find the interaction between these two to be so unique in that, as much as I love their characters, I don't necessarily wish for their relationship to become romantic. Rather I am charmed by Holmes' growing respect for Watson's abilities. They are both highly intelligent individuals and the writers deserve kudos for such spirited and inventive dialogue.

Fantastic Series
This show is one of the best written, well acted shows out there. Its hard to imagine that the lead characters arent as full of wit and deductive reasoning in real life. Thats hard to fake. They really make it their own.

2 Broke Girls: The Complete Second Season

Love this show!!
These girls are so funny.. It's a show you could watch over and over.. hope it gets the attention it deserves i would love to see a blu ray release for the second installment..

BEST SHOW!
I love the fact that this show "pushes the envelope", that is what makes it so great. My wife and I enjoyed the second season as much as the first. I am puzzled as to why the second season is NOT going to be available in Blu-Ray format?

NO Blu-ray NO SALE!
Just because Season 1 Blu-ray didn't sell good dosen't mean Warner Bros. Entertainment have to treat 'us' the blu-ray buyers bad.

5 STARS for the show.
Season 2 was a more funnier than season 1. Great show just beware of some inappropriate jokes. Jennifer Coolidge steals the show, her character is way too hilarious.

0 Stars for Warner Bros. Entertainment for not releasing it to blu-ray. Really want to buy this season but I'll wait until Warner Bros. provide a blu-ray release.

Mike & Molly: The Complete Third Season

Awesome Show
It was a great season and it's always funny. The only thing I found disappointing is they edited out the baby news. Oh well it's still a great show to watch. And the Gag Reel is hilarious

I've had the DVD of their 3rd season on pre-order for months and we've purchased the Amazon Video versions because we can't wait for the DVD. We hope this season goes on for years because we're not finding much to laugh at lately.

Mike & Molly Season Three
Warm and wonderful program with well-developed characters. Fabulous ensemble cast and they play off each other so well. I can't say enough good things about this show and shamelessly try to recruit new viewers amongst my friends and family. Hope it will be on for many seasons to come.
